Bi-lingual, an entrepreneur, Blogger and Confidence Consultant… is there anything Freddie Harrel can’t do?! It seems that with a positive outlook and the right mind-set, almost anything is possible. We were intrigued to find out more about this super talented lady! We caught up with Freddie, and shared our Fall 16 collection with her. Her favourite pieces? The Deaven Sheepskin and the Deaven Croco.
- Tell us about your morning ritual?
I usually have a big glass of water first thing when I wake up, then I check social media, whatsapp and my emails briefly from my bed. Then I get up, make myself a latte and a smoothie or I just make a bowl of fresh fruits and have it on the sofa while watching TV or a TED Talk to motivate myself for the day. Then I have a shower and either go to my home office or to a café with my laptop if I don’t have morning meetings, or I’ll head out in town if I have meetings.
- How did you get into being a confidence consultant?
I struggle with confidence too at times and that’s only normal. It started back when I was a personal stylist and realised that many girls and women would do just like I used to, and dress not for themselves but for the way they wanted to be perceived. I had long suffered from insecurity and occasional depression, I couldn’t have all these people thinking I had everything figured out just because I’m always smiling on photos. I wanted to share my own vision of empowerment and femininity, and inspire girls and women to bring more of who they are in their style and attitude; to show them the benefits of celebrating who you are rather than focusing on who you want to be perceived as.
- What’s the best part of your job?
Meeting new people every week! It’s a huge source of inspiration, I’m obsessed with women and their magic! I get to learn something new and make new friends all the time! I also love being my own boss because I’ve always had a hard time doing what I’m being told ahah
- What does a day in the life of you look like?
They never look the same! Some days I’m going to have lots of meetings, be it for the blog or for the SHE Unleashed workshops, I also do lots of talks so I meet up with brands or publications to discuss how we can work together and provide an experience their customers or readers will really enjoy. I sometimes have shoots or simply days where I’m on my computer all day, blogging or working on deadlines.
- What’s your go-to scent?
Lavender!! Since my early days, it has always been a comforting smell to me. My mum used to have these pouches of lavender hung in her wardrobe and I used to love hiding in it.
- As a happiness coach, we feel like you must be full of great advice and inspiring life mantras – can you share your favourite?!
My daily mantra is all about celebrating myself, shamelessly. It goes “I am smart, everything that I want to do I can, everything that I want to get I can, I am interesting, I am a voice, I am relevant, I am beautiful. I am valid.”
- If you were a style of shoe, what would you be? (e.g. Sandal, Biker boot, wedge etc.)
A biker boot, I like to think that I’m cool and badass ahah
- If you could walk a mile in someone else’s shoes, who would it be and why?
Beyoncé. I want to know how it feels to be a super human!
- Good shoes take you to good places – where’s next on your list of places to visit?
I’d love to go to Italy!
- Favourite book of all time?
