#UGGLIFE: MEET KIM GORDON AND COCO GORDON MOORE – This is UGG

Working with UGG since AW17, Kim Gordon is a musician, artist, and founding member of post-punk band Sonic Youth. Credited as one of the boldest women in music, she’s been an experimental pioneer and rulebreaker across multiple disciplines throughout her career. Her daughter Coco Gordon Moore is an emerging model, artist, and writer based in New York. She’s modeled for publications like Dazed and i-D, as well as UGG partner Eckhaus Latta.

Kim, describe yourself in three words.

Dreamer, introvert, and performer.

Describe what it’s like being a female rockstar in a male-dominated industry.

I don’t really think about it anymore.

What’s surprised you most about motherhood?

I knew it would be challenging, and it was the hardest thing I’ve ever done, but the most surprising and joyful.

Describe Coco in three words.

Sweet, funny, and sensitive.

How does your daughter support, challenge, and inspire you as an individual?

She seems wise beyond her years. She gives me clarity sometimes. I admire her political involvement. I love her smile.

What in Coco do you see in yourself?

The way she works and her humor.

How does Coco bring out the best in you?

By letting me be a role model for her.

What does your style say about you, and what does Coco’s say about her?

We’re both pretty casual, with some attention to detail and fun.

What does #UGGLIFE mean to you?

Easy comfort that’s classic.

What’s your favorite silhouette from our Classic Revolution Collection, and how do you plan to wear it this season?

I like the Classic Femme Short Boot with jeans.

Coco, describe yourself in three words.

Chill, impulsive, and loyal.

How do you push yourself out of your comfort zone into unfamiliar or intimidating territory professionally, personally, and creatively?

I never want to look back and regret not doing something out of fear. I like doing things that make me uncomfortable – that push me into a new place. If I get too good at something, I get bored.

Describe Kim in three words.

Mysterious, funny, and hardworking.

How does your mom support, challenge, and inspire you as an individual?

My mom always encouraged me to be an artist. She was always pretty honest with me about my work, which taught me a lot about how to handle critique – what to listen to and what to ignore. She’s always pushed me to work harder and to try new things. My mom’s work ethic has always been pretty inspiring to me, but mostly I’ve always been in awe and jealous of her knowledge about art history and art theory.

What in Kim do you see in yourself?

I think we work in similar ways, and have a similar way of organizing our work and daily life.

How does Kim bring out the best in you?

She makes me rethink things in a more positive light. She pushes me to do more, and she lets me cry on the phone to her which is sometimes all I need.

What does your style say about you, and what does Kim’s say about her?

My style reflects my mood. I like to dress down, keep it classic. I would say my mom is similar. She also likes to just wear jeans and a shirt most of the time, but her style in general is more bold and fun. We both like to be comfortable.

What does #UGGLIFE mean to you?

Cozy and classic. Reminds me of being 13 again.

What’s your favorite silhouette from our Classic Revolution Collection, and how do you plan to wear it this season?

I’ve always liked the Classic Boot, but found myself surprisingly drawn to the Classic Rebel Boot. Looks really good with jeans.
